Tada Falls a wonderful experinace..

It is a beautiful waterfall not yet spoiled by the tourist crowd. Nature at its best. Me , jump , Ganesh & Vittal had a awesome experience

Where is it?

First go to Tada which is on the border of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. You can take NH-5 from Chennai and drive for about 85 kilometers to reach Tada. Just before you enter the town Tada, you hit the Kalahasti Road going west off NH-5. Take this road and go another 10 to 15 kilometers till you hit Varadaiah Palem. Ask any local for directions to Ubbalamadugu Falls. That is the actual name of the Falls. In fact the falls are nearer to Kalahasti than to Tada. However since the approach is from Tada, outsiders like us call it Tada Falls.

is no proper road. All you see is an endless stretch of about two meters width comprising of small to medium sized rocks amidst dense vegetation. The locals call it a road.

The actual trek starts after you reach the base camp. J

On second thoughts, if you are not very trek-savvy, turn your vehicle back and go back to Chennai. Reaching Tada Falls is no childs play. Make sure you have no kids or elderly people in your group. They simply cannot make it to the falls.

Once you reach the base camp which is nothing but a slightly larger open space on this gravel road, you have two options. If you are in a Santro/Indica/Zen/WagonR, park your car there and use your legs. If you are in an SUV/bike, continue further till you reach a small stream of water. The depth is only around a foot. So you can cross it comfortably and then park the vehicle there. (Base Camp 2). The distance between these two camps is just a furlong. It is up to you to decide whether you want to reach base camp 2 before testing your legs.

What do I need to carry in my backpack?

First things first. Backpacks are a must. This is Godforsaken land. You wont get anything. In fact you wont see a human face after the first two kilometers. So pack your backpacks adequately. Do NOT carry a lot of water. We bought two 20 liter cans of water for this trek. It was our biggest mistake. We could not carry that weight over the steep rocks. Halfway through the trek, we abandoned all those water cans and relied heavily on Nature to get our water supplies. However believe me, Tada falls water is definitely much better and clearer than the so called mineral water we get in Chennai. It is best to carry a one-liter bottle of water in every backpack. You can fill it up all through the trek. There is a water stream running all along the trek path. The water is crystal clear.

Carry some medication Painkillers, Mosquito repellents, bandage, Dettol and a pair of scissors with some clean cloth.

How is the path?

From base camp 2 till you reach the first rest point which is about three kilometers from the start, it is a fairly easy trek. You just have to take the pathway which is mostly flat and straight. At the end of this phase, you will reach a Siva Temple. You have to cross the water stream at this point. Depth varies from 5 feet to 2 feet. Be careful while crossing this stream. There are lots of submerged boulders. You can refresh yourself by swimming in these waters. The trek ahead is not going to be easy.

Once you cross this point, there is no such thing as a path. You need to trek on the rocks/boulders/logs/trees etc to go upstream towards the water falls. Some rocks are taller than five meters and some are steeper than you can imagine. A rope will come in handy in conquering these rocks. When you come to the stage where you are greeted with an almost formidable rock formation, do not get disheartened. This is the best place of Tada Falls. You can see a clear water stream and a small waterfall sandwiched between two boulders. Climb those boulders and sit under those falls. Heavenly! This is our second rest point.

Spend as much time as you can in this point. Then gather all your energy and climb that rock formation. Life is going to be easy once you conquer this formation. All you have to do next is to climb the hill at an angle of 60 degrees for one more kilometer and then climb down at the same angle for another kilometer. Congratulations You have reached the Tada Falls. Have fun and start your journey home at 3pm. You need at least two hours to reach the Sivalayam. Make sure you reach this point before the sun sets.

What next?

Provided your car has not been frisked away, drive home carefully. :)

Is it worth the effort?

Very much. This is perhaps the best outing I have ever been a part of. The scenery is beautiful. The trek is soul satisfying and the adventure part is really great. However as I said earlier, the ideal age group is 15-40.

When should we visit these falls?

Wait till rainy days are over. Winter is the best time to visit this place. January/February is the ideal time.

Reliance has been aggressively advertising its data card to provide life to your Laptop. It has tied up with various dealers who sell laptops of top companies. Once you buy a laptop the dealers motivate you to buy the data card by confirming good performance and the company has a promotion offer, which offers the first 2 months free unlimited access on the data card and finally if you fall prey for the baseless claims you end up paying for the card which is an additional 3200-3400 over the price of the laptop. The company claims the data card would generate a speed of 155 Kbps. Backed by excellent customer service to support the users. But, the fact is that the card does not even deliver 10 Kbps. On contacting the customer service you get to be on long holds and then transferred from one person to the other, each would ask you the same question again and again. Guess Reliance does not have an option of recoding calls or making notes when they are on calls with the client. (Average Speed varies between 5-10 kbps)

The next step is to provide you with bullshit, Blame it on the Operating system used or the drivers being outdated, Temp files to be deleted etc. You as a user are so confused with the whole episode that you just follow instructions. For reinstallation of the drivers u would be asked to log on to their server and download the drivers and as your card is almost dead one needs to visit their Branch and get it done. The executives at the branch start their investigation first telling u that the download is not possible here and you need to meet the engineering team. This story continues for 3 days and as you have not contacted them again the call is closed.

This is big eyewash; the only satisfaction here is the 2 months of unlimited access, which you get to use. In other words, you end up paying for the 2 months of unlimited access. But at the end of the day you end up being cheated, frustrated and disheartened. Not sure if this really gives life to your lap to or life to your patience.

One thing i would like to stress in this day was " DON'T WASTE YOUR FOOD" , This day cerebrated as thanks giving day to all farming community who shed their sweat and tears to produce food grains for our fellow being in this world, The role of a Farmer is more painful then a lady labouring a baby..

But most of us waste food knowingly or unknowingly. this happen due to various reasons by the people like me, lets burn away our mistakes and show them the real respects by following the one anthem " DON'T WASTE YOUR FOOD"

I would suggest few Tips which may act handy at times.( Views are Welcomed ,Please comment )

1) If you are dinning in hotel, order what you can eat then what you can buy from money you have in your wallet.

2) Don't feel shy to get away the balance food from hotel , its your hard earned money, trust me try giving to the poor people who live on road side. The smile you bring by doing so is worth a million $$.

3) Buy your own office tiff-in box to your preferred side , you would know how much to can eat better then any one else in this world.

4) Even if your are not able to eat your food don't waste it by throwing it in dustbin ,Make sure you aleast give it to the Street dogs before the food get spoiled.

Citibank rethinks BPO sale to Genpact

It was touted as the first deal of its kind in the Indian BPO industry but just three months after Citibank sold its BPO arm to Genpact for $630 million, the bank may eventually back away from the deal.

NDTV has learnt that Citibank is rethinking its decision to sell its BPO operations. The primary concern revolves around the impact on core banking operations such as customer service which are handled by the BPO arm.

The senior Citi officials are worried that a third party vendor handling such strategic functions could raise compliance and regulatory issues.

At the same time, cost cutting pressures in Citi's US business could mean more offshoring to the Indian BPO arm.

While no official concern has been raised, the re-think on the deal comes is the light of an increased focus on customer service from the Reserve Bank of India.

The RBI has increased its vigilance of customer service and has been conducting impromptu checks to ensure that customer service guidelines are being followed.

In addition, the RBI maintains that even if a banking function such as customer service is outsourced, the bank remains ultimately responsible and liable for the quality of the service.
While refusing to comment specifically on the future of Citi's deal with Genpact senior officials do accept the pitfalls of outsourcing core functions.

The informal talks around the future of Citi's Indian BPO operations are continuing. Sources say that there are more than enough interested buyers out there but Citi is simply not sure if it wants to sell anymore. Citibank and Genpact officials declined any official comment on the deal but for now it seems unlikely that this high profile will finally be inked.

Schools for India is conducting the Annual International Cycle race, called the ICR on ECR , the biggest race in the country.The race is conducted to raise awareness about providing quality education to the people of India.The race is recognised by the Cycling Federation of India.

Citigroup CEO Resigns , Charles Prince

Citigroup Inc. said Sunday Chairman and Chief Executive Charles Prince, beset by the company's billions of dollars in losses from investing in bad debt, has retired and is being replaced as chairman by former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin.

In an announcement following an emergency meeting of Citi's board, the nation's largest banking company also said Sir Win Bischoff, chairman of Citi Europe and a Member of the Citi management and operating committees, would serve as interim CEO.
Prince's resignation, which was secured at an emergency meeting of the Citi board Sunday, was expected after the nation's largest banking company revealed it had to write down billions of dollars in bad debt. He joined former Merrill Lynch & Co. CEO Stan O'Neal, who resigned from the investment bank last month, as the highest-profile casualties of the debt crisis that has cost billions at other financial institutions as well.
The Wall Street Journal, which had early word of Prince's departure in its online edition, also said Citi would also be announcing that it would take an additional $8 billion to $11 billion in writedowns. It has already said it was writing down $6.5 billion in assets. The company did not mention any writedowns in its statement.

And, as interim CEO, Citigroup's board looked to Europe for leadership. Sir Win Bischoff, the London-based chairman of Citi's European operations, has been put in charge with leading the company until a replacement for Prince can be found.
Bischoff came to Citigroup after leading Schroders PLC, one of Britain's oldest investment banks that was sold to Citi in 2000. The European operations of Citi's investment bank has been among the company's most profitable units.
Both men find themselves as unlikely leaders of a company considered to be one of the most innovative in the industry. Bischoff, 66, was seen likely retiring within the next few years and had settled into a more hands-off role in the day-to-day operations of Citi's European operations. Rubin, 69, also was not seen taking a greater role at the company.
Short-listed as likely successors to Prince are a few well-known names on Wall Street, including John Thain, the current CEO of NYSE Euronext, who was a former chief operating officer at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Also considered to be in contention is Dick Parsons, chief executive of Time Warner Group Inc. and a board member of Citigroup.

MUMBAI/BANGALORE: India’ largest BPO company and the NYSE-listed Genpact is said to have won the race to buy out Citi group’s call centres in India. The deal was clinched after a week of final negotiations for around $700 million, according to industry sources.

"No comment and (there is) nothing accurate in the rumours at all," said Genpact president and CEO Pramod Bhasin, who, along with senior executives, is stationed in New York to stitch up the deal.

The final leg of negotiations had just two suitors — Genpact and Mumbai-based Firstsource — the only large third party BPOs who specialise in banking and insurance processes. Though both companies are said to have quoted around $700 million each for the buyout, Genpact is said to have won the deal on its ability to raise the required finances easily.

With its win, Genpact will re-affirm its position as India’s largest BPO by a big margin. The Citi acquisition will add around 10,000 agents to its current strength of over 20,000 executives spread over eight cities in India.

When Citi first put its BPO arm, Citi Global Services on sale in June, investment bankers expected a valuation of over $1 billion for the entire business. Later, after the subprime crisis, BPO stock have been trading weak in US and shares of firms like EXL and WNS have fallen considerably. It is, however, not known if Citi has divested its stake in the BPO arm entirely or has retained a part of it.

Sabya Sachi Satpathy, senior director, Neo-IT, an offshore advisory firm, said the deal will set a new trend in the market. "We will see captives increasingly exploring JVs and buy-outs and third party outsourcing options to optimise the cost base and to enhance flexibility."

Details about Gingee.

Gingee is a panchayat town in Viluppuram district (erstwhile South Arcot district) in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The nearest town with a railway station is Tindivanam, 28 km away.

Gingee is located between three hills covering a perimeter of 3 km.

Gingee is famous for its Gingee Fort, a popular tourist attraction. The Fort in Gingee was built by the Chola dynasty in 13th Century. In 1638, Gingee came under the control of Bijapur Sultanate from Vijayanagar. In 1677, it was under the control of Maratha king Shivaji. In 1690, it changed to be under Mughal, under whose rule it became the headquarters of Arcot. It changed hands to the French in 1750, and then to the British in 1762. In the 18th century, it was occupied again by the French for 11 years. During this time, many sculptural aspects of Gingee were shifted to Pondicherry by the French.

The Rajagiri Fort was built in 1200 AD. It is 1 km away from Gingee Market. It is made up of saffron and Black rock. Currently, the fort includes a magazine, gymnasium, palace site, audience hall, stable, Clock tower, granary, treasury in Indo-Islamic style, store-house for grains and an elephant tank. In the West Entrance, Venu Gopalaswami Temple, Ranganath Temple of vijayanagar Kings, Kalyan Mandap, Sadatulla Khan's Masjid (1717-18), Mahabbat Khan's masjid. Bath tubs with continuous supply of water, a huge cannon, belong to the temple on the top of the fort near Chakrakulam-Kunda (reservoir) or water a wonderland of treasure for the tourists and photograpers.

The meeting started at 9.00 with the welcome speech from Kaushik and followed up with new member's introduction. I should thank our old man in tkf and sid for mailing me the details about the meet; else I would have missed the amassing meet.

Lot of things discussed on the day... which comprise of registering this as a society, on frequently on meeting up the members, does and don’ts, trips, etc.

Shetland Island-based Blackwood's Distilleries is introducing Diva Vodka , the world's costliest liquor, in India. The price: $ 450,000 or Rs 1.9 crore for 750 ml.

The high cost is because the vodka bottle is lined with Swarovski crystals and diamonds. When the vodka is poured, it comes filtering through these gems. The cost of the vodka depends upon the quantity and quality of the gems. The company intends to launch some economy models priced around Rs 2 lakh per bottle , and even these would make Diva Vodka the costliest liquor in the country.

It was nice to see the Ultimate Frisbee game was covered in Economictimes newpaper, but the funnier part was they way the write up was given.

1) No where they mention about the correct name as "Ultimate Frisbee " instead it was just given as Frisbee.

2) The kind of hype they have given in terms of number of people. We were just around 30 in numbers on that day, but they have mentioned as 50...

for me Ultimate Frisbee is more than a game. Where it teaches me a lot personally and helps to test me physical fitness.

Time was around 00.45 am I was searching for my bike in our office parking lots. . I was very much agitated to take my bike but since I need my bike for the very next day. I forced myself to it.

while I neared my bike I saw half size grown street dog looking kindly at me , expecting me to give some thing to eat, but at that time I was helpless to do anything to him .. So I was just smiled at him saying sorry for not in a position to help. But I saw a guy who was standing near his bike some few meters away was wisiling to get the dogs attention. And I spotted him with our canter’s take away bag. I thought that guy have wants to give the foodies which he have brought from the canteen, but what shocked me was he actually carried the chicken bones from the canteen which is in 6 floor to -1 our parking lot...

I was totally moved buy the guys act, he has thought about this little sweet creature when we was having his food and took care to carry all the way down, where other would mind carrying the remains of their food to put it in the dustbin.... man I saw the god in you ...

Through I don’t know about that guy. You have shown the GOD at the movement.

"Chak De India " a 5/5 goal

‘Chak De India’ is a beautifully made film that makes you laugh, makes you cry, gives you goose bumps, and stirs up patriotism inside you. It is a film that every lover of good cinema must watch.

It is heartening to see Yashraj Films move away from their stereotypical mushy romances and sentimental family dramas. Sports, in itself, is not a popular genre in Bollywood. On top of it, ‘Chak De India’ has no love angle even though it has Shah Rukh Khan playing the leading man alongside 16 new girls.

I cannot recall a single dull moment in the film. From the word go, the movie grips you like a vice and keeps you riveted until the end credits roll. During this ‘Chak De’ ride, you go through myriad emotions. You empathize with the pain of the protagonist, cherish the clashes and camaraderie of the girls, and you are filled with an uplifting, charged-up feeling as you see the underdogs rise to the occasion

To cut to the chase, ‘Chak De India’ keeps you on the edge of your seat, even though it is a sports-based film and not a thriller.
The film’s story is simple and yet it carries so many undercurrents. Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh), the best centre-forward in Indian hockey team, misses the crucial, last-minute penalty stroke against Pakistan and is blamed for the Indian team’s defeat in the finals. So much so, he is labeled gaddar (betrayer) by his own fellow countrymen. Disgraced and dishonored for one momentary failure, Kabir Khan leaves his parental house with his mother and disappears into oblivion.

Seven years later he appears again, not as a player but as a coach of a bunch of girls in whom even the Hockey Federation has no confidence. Kabir Khan has just three months to coach and train these girls for the Hockey World Cup in Australia.
The girls come from all over India – Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, North East and other states. On the outside, Kabir Khan is very strict with the girls. Through his toughness he wants to instill discipline and integrity in the team, something which is significantly missing. Within the team, there is hardly any camaraderie. There are usual girlie fights and arguments. Somebody is egoistic, somebody too self-centered, somebody is hot-tempered and somebody is simply naïve. Using very unconventional methods, Kabir Khan manages to create a team spirit among the girls. But some differences remain, only to be sorted out in the World Cup tournament in Australia, which the team must win to make India proud. But Kabir Khan is fighting for more than pride for India. For him the victory would bring redemption (for his momentary failure 7 years ago) and reclamation of his lost honour. And when that moment of reckoning does come, he looks on with disbelief in his teary eyes.

‘Chak De India’ is not just a sports film. It is replete with myriad emotions. And the best part is that Shimit Amin tells the story very realistically, making it all the more believable. He also doesn’t bring any unnecessary dramatization into the story. The movie has a number of intelligently conceived sequences. For instance, a sequence when the girl’s hockey team has to prove their mettle against the men’s team. The girls lose by a narrow margin, but they get an applause and salutation from male players. Or another sequence when the girls bash up a bunch of eve teasers. These sequences and the last portions of the second half – when the crucial matches are played – evoke a flood of emotions inside a viewer.

A constant thread of humour runs through the film’s narrative. The humour is vernacular, and genuinely funny at that. The funniest of the lot is the rustic Haryanavi girl Komal (Chitrashi Rawat) and the hot-tempered Punjabi girl Balbir Kaur (Tanya Abrol).

There is a new animated movie directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth. The name of the movie is Sultan the Warrior. This is the first animated movie ever made on Indian Movie star. In this movie Rajinikanth's mannerisms and the punch lines are shown, which he is famous for. The movie will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English. The Ocher studios are working on this, apart from that some international specialists are also working.
The film is targeted for both the kids and also the adult all over the world. The film is expected to release by the end of 2008. Waiting for such movie. Soundarya keep it up.

Hi everybody, I was very much excited about this trip, because this the only place were I have travel and stayed more number of days away from Home, cooking my own food, washing my own cloths , and feel the headache I give to my parents in Chennai {mom does every thing for me in I have not even ironed my clothes in Chennai then imagine how much lazy i am}, in general its a adventurous trip for me to manage myself all alone, I am able to give my first Blog only after 21 days of stay here in Barcelona, because my hotel price card showed me 6 eurs for .30 min browsing I thought hell with net for the next one and half months then , found a economic place ran by and Asian here , I have pages to write about this , any how I kept very shot sorry as of now........ Don’t get scared by seeing me in such weird possess... chill guys,

After a very long time i went to a hindi movie with the 35 member from our office , through i dont understand much of a fast conversation, this movie have broken the barrior. its a well drafted move altogether , the acting was so natural and empressive , the like the character of circut( Arshad warsi) , The story is crips and shot ,but outstanding homework done by the directed (hats offf )

i should definely talk abt Vidya Balan!!!! , the way the gal says gooodd morning mumbaaaii was amasing , it actualy biring some kind of +tive viberation to ur mind and body, seriously i felt that ,

DoCoMo's next big move: Phones that double as credit cards

In the beginning, the cell phone was a phone -- handy for making calls but Little else. Then manufacturers added cameras, e-mail, music, and even television to their phones, making the gadgets an essential part of daily routines. Now, Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo Inc. wants to entrench the once-humble cell phone even deeper into consumer lifestyles by turning it into an electronic wallet. After introducing handsets last year that double as debit cards -- allowing users to pay for small purchases such as soda or coffee from vending machines and convenience stores -- the company this year plans to make those phones full-fledged credit cards.

To boost its effort to make mobiles the new way to pay, DoCoMo is taking a 34% stake in Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc.'s credit-card business. In late April, DoCoMo said it would pay $935 million for the stake in Japan's second-largest credit-card issuer. DoCoMo has also held talks with Japan's No. 1 issuer, JCB International Co., about some sort of tie-up, though no details have been released. “This is a completely new sector for DoCoMo and is part of our aim to move into areas where we are not so dependent

This article in NY Times should make Chennaites proud.. It's a positive article on India's foray in to Global Manufacturing arena how it is trying to capture the middle segment..

Consider the formula of Muhammad Yavar Dhala, chief of Forward Shoes in Madras. The factory made a million pairs of leather shoes last year for European brands like Clarks. In other words, for shoes under $60, leave it to China. Above $240, leave it to European cobblers. In the middle, give it to India.Most of the companies mentioned in the article are in Chennai and the article credits TN Govt for some advanced thinkig and planning...
